What it covers

Topics inside this course

Awareness and induction depth — not an accredited occupational qualification.

  • There is a national floor — look up this year’s rate
  • Hours and unpaid extras can breach the floor even when the salary looks fine
  • Exclusions and learnerships: do not guess
  • Cash-in-hand is not a management style
  • Where this sits beside the BCEA course
Who it is for

Built for the people who take the training

Line managers, schedulers, and anyone who agrees hours or cash payments in a South African workplace.

What learners leave able to do

  • State that a national minimum wage exists and must be looked up, not memorised forever
  • Refuse cash-in-hand or unpaid extra hours that undercut the floor
  • Ask payroll before assuming an exclusion or learnership rate
  • Complete a short assessment for manager records

Modules you can expect

Structure may tighten when you localise from your own source pack in Kre8AI — this is the shape of the library title.

  1. 1
    A floor, not a rumour

    Why the NMWA exists.

  2. 2
    This year’s rate

    Dated call-out; always refresh.

  3. 3
    Hours games

    Unpaid extras and “trial shifts”.

  4. 4
    Ask payroll

    Exclusions, learnerships, sector quirks.

  5. 5
    Knowledge check

    Short scored assessment.

Short scored assessment. The rand amount must be clearly dated and refreshed when the annual notice changes.

About this course

Written for the workplace, not for the statute book alone

Minimum-wage failures are often informal: extra hours not recorded, a trial shift unpaid, a cash top-up that is actually the whole wage. This short course tells managers the floor is real, the number changes, and folklore is not a defence.

Learners are not asked to memorise a permanent rand figure. They are asked to know where the organisation publishes this year’s rate, and to stop agreeing arrangements that undercut it. Exclusions exist in the notice — guessing them is how you end up in a Department of Employment and Labour file.

It is not a full BCEA course. Pair the two for managers who approve both hours and pay. It is not payroll-tax training.

Generate in Kre8AI from the Act, the current Gazette notice, and your remuneration policy. Put the rate in a dated box so authors remember to refresh. Publish as SCORM or HTML.

Retail, hospitality, security and agricultural employers often need this as a standing annual assignment. Re-export when the notice is gazetted rather than hoping managers saw a payslip memo.

Formats, coach and provenance

  • Standalone HTML to play in the browser; SCORM 2004 for your LMS.
  • Optional AI course coach on Growth and Scale — grounded in approved material; off on quizzes and final assessment by default. Course plays offline; coach needs a network.
