Build AI courses for Moodle

Moodle has read SCORM for two decades and reads ours the same way. Build the course from your own documents in Kre8AI, approve it, export the package and add it as a SCORM activity.

Moodle reads: SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004, via the built-in SCORM activity module.
Step one

Build the course, then export it

The course is built from your own documents and cannot be published until a person has approved it. What you end up with is a single zip file.

    Finish review and approve every module

    Publishing stays locked until each module is approved. That is deliberate: the export is the point where the course stops being a draft, and the audit trail records who approved what and when.

    Choose your package format

    SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 4th edition, xAPI, cmi5, or a standalone HTML file that runs with no platform at all.

    Download the zip

    One file, containing the course, its media, the manifest your LMS reads and the tracking bridge that reports progress back.

    Do not unzip it and do not rezip the extracted folder. An LMS reads the manifest at the root of the archive, and rezipping usually buries it one directory down.

Which format for Moodle

SCORM 1.2. Moodle's SCORM player handles it with the fewest surprises, and it reports the completion and score most Moodle gradebooks are set up around.

xAPI and cmi5 ship as packaging. The player wires the SCORM tracking bridge rather than streaming live statements to an LRS, so if your reporting depends on a live statement flow, raise it before you start.

Step two

Import it into Moodle

The same package works in every platform that reads SCORM. These are the steps in Moodle's own vocabulary.

    Turn editing on in the course

    Open the Moodle course you want the material in and switch editing on.

    Add an activity or resource

    In the section you want it to appear in, choose Add an activity or resource.

  3. 3

    Pick SCORM package

    Select SCORM package from the activity list, then give the activity the name learners will see. That name, not the one inside the package, is what appears on the course page.

    Upload the zip into the package file area

    Drag the Kre8AI zip into the Package file field, leave the type as Uploaded package, and save. Moodle unpacks it and registers the manifest.

    Set completion the way you report on it

    Under Activity completion, decide whether completion means opening the activity, reaching a grade, or the status the package reports. This is the setting that decides whether your compliance report is meaningful.

Completion, score, interaction results and bookmarking are wired through the tracking bridge inside the package, so learners resume where they left off and your existing reports keep working.

Which source document and page each statement came from, the excerpt behind it, a confidence score, who approved each module and every AI-assisted action. An LMS proves somebody completed training. This proves the training was right.

Before you roll it out

What catches people out in Moodle

The upload limit will stop you before the course does

A narrated course with generated imagery is a substantial zip, and Moodle caps uploads at whatever your site and course limits are set to. If the upload fails, that limit is almost always why, and raising it is a site administrator change rather than a course one.

Display setting changes how it feels

Moodle can show a SCORM package in the current window or a new one. A narrated course with audio generally reads better in a new window, but check it against how your learners actually work before you commit.

Grading method is not the pass mark

The pass mark travels inside the package and drives the certificate. Moodle's grading method decides what lands in the gradebook. Set both, and set them to agree, or your gradebook and your certificate will disagree about who passed.

Kre8AI and Moodle

Which SCORM version should I choose for Moodle?
SCORM 1.2 unless you have a specific reason for 2004. Both work. SCORM 2004 4th edition adds sequencing and a richer set of completion states, which matters if you are building a structured programme rather than a single course.
Will it work on Moodle Workplace?
The SCORM activity is the same, so the import is the same. We have not certified a course against a specific Moodle Workplace release, so treat this as the standard SCORM route rather than a tested integration, and test the package in your own instance first.
Can I test a package before committing to anything?
Yes, and we would rather you did. There is a sample SCORM package on the site you can download and load into your own Moodle instance without talking to us.
